What I Do
How do the Yoga Classes work?
I teach both online and in person classes. These classes take place within the Zoom portal and are hosted at various schools in Het Gooi in The Netherlands. I offer private sessions, in class sessions, and group sessions held via Zoom or at your place of work, for example.
Lessons are designed to include all levels, with carefully guided cues allowing the pose to work its magic into your body. My style of teaching is one of dynamic movement with the breath, whichever the form. I offer classes in Vinyasa, Slow Flow, Core Flow, Yin Yang, Restorative Flow, Hot 60A, Bikram series and an introduction to Ashtanga yoga.
In yoga for business, a tailor-made program can be created to serve a goal. It can be a lovely team-building exercise, or a fun and cohesive start to a new project. My program will include yoga poses, mobility exercises, breath, relaxation and meditation techniques. These types of workshops will always be inclusive to all people, including those completely new to yoga!
Online lessons are followed through the Zoom portal. Upon signing up, you will receive a confirmation email with instructions on how to join. I encourage to use a laptop or device with a bigger screen and decent sound. Your technology should not distract you from your experience.
PSYCHEDELIC BREATH
Psychedelic breath work is a vigorous deep breathing technique, which is repeated in cycles. It is a strong rhythmic practice, set to a carefully chosen soundtrack of inspiring electronic music.
The aim is to connect to our true essence through the breath. This powerful practice can help you to reach directly inwards, and help you to find the quiet needed to explore old patterns. We touch on the subconscious mind, and it is possible to temporarily reach altered states of brainwave activity.
Each week we work with a theme, helping you to ask the questions which need answering. By using our breath, we can unlock mindfulness, creativity, self-awareness, determination and realise our potential.
These lessons are both online, using Zoom, and live on location.
About Me
I have a beautiful family (husband, kids, and a cat) who teach me new things every day. I grew up in sunny South Africa, surrounded by a large family. I feel lucky to have lived a rich and varied life, making frequent use of the incredible natural beauty around me. My husband and I emigrated to the United Kingdom and settled in The Netherlands, in pursuit of his career opportunities. Building homes in different countries teaches you a lot about how different people live, interact with each other, and about their values.
From a young age I was drawn to forming meaningful relationships with people, soon realizing that my keen interest in relationships stimulated me to help people gain connection to themselves and to the world around them. My natural path started to reveal itself and has followed a direction of teaching in many forms – I realized that this is how I could be of service.
My mantra is simple: do unto others as you would have done unto you. This universal law is all encompassing and accepted by almost all who inhabit this earth. Sometimes I am successful and other days need to remind myself that this journey is lifelong. I am trying to accept being human first.
As a young school graduate, I taught classical piano lessons to children, computer orientation classes to the aged, and in my 30’s I re-educated and gained a diploma in Early Years Foundation Stage child-care. I started a childcare business for babies and toddlers and helped shape them until it was time for them to begin school. In 2015 we moved to The Netherlands, and I took a couple of years off from work as we made a new home. During this time, I completed numerous yoga teacher training programs, and found my path turn in a new direction. Alongside teaching yoga classes, I yearned to understand more about the true meaning of the word yoga, which comes from the Sanskrit word, Yuj, meaning to unite or link. Intrigued by what this meant in practical terms and how it could relate to me and my offerings, in a moment of clarity, I realized that this connection was internal. The union of mind, body, soul, and breath. I am in a relationship with myself.
I was 21 when I attended my first Bikram Yoga class. I remember being completely surprised at how deeply I felt my body. There was something about moving with the breath in the heat that was perfect for me. I still love hot yoga but realized that all yoga is yoga. I realised during practices from Ashtanga to Yin Yang – through awareness, conscious breathing and movement – that the union of me happens.
Through the Ayurvedic Academy, The Netherlands I recently completed a Bachelor degree, earning me the title of an Ayurvedic Practitioner. I have received a certifications in Ayurvedic massage, lifestyle, yoga and nutritional advice and am currently deepening my knowledge in these topics. One of the highlights of my study was completing my medical internship at the esteemed Ayurvedic hospital, Vaidyagrama, in Coimbatore.
I have been blessed with receiving teachings from knowledgeable and wise teachers over the years and now the cycle continues where I can pass these lessons on to those who come after me. This is an honour that I take seriously and perform with pride and dedication. I look forward to meeting you and seeing you on the mat!

My happy clients
I loved the extreme experience, the way it made me feel. There were moments my constant flow of thoughts was interrupted, which is fantastic. Holding the breath was precious, very meditative. I felt safe and cared for. Amazing! Kari is a great facilitator!
Hi Kari, loved your workshop!! The first round I thought I could never do it. But when I let go, it was actually very easy and lovely. Yes I had a cold nose and tingling legs, but that was OK because I knew. I also moved much more on the beat during the rounds. Every step a level deeper. And I almost didn’t want to stop. The music lifted me up during the stillness and I wanted to move with it. Now I feel very detoxed, ‘clear’ and in contact with the earth and the sky. Thanks for your lovely lesson! It fits You to guide people to another State of mind and You have a lovely, bright, and relaxing voice. Thanks!!
Kari is a standout yoga instructor. Her classes are meticulously prepared, with articulate playlists and choreography that set the tone, and you are guided through practices and philosophies that surprise and calm you. Kari is exceptionally knowledgeable in all things body and mind, and has an incredible teaching gift. In her classes I always feel safe, joyful, invigorated and calm. She has the unique ability to make me feel brave enough to stretch myself and try something new each time. I will be a student of hers for life.
I’ve taken many classes with Kari over the years, and I can say without any doubt she’s one of my favourite yoga teachers. Not only do I like her way of teaching but I consider her an example and a life inspiration. She has iron discipline for herself, seems an afficionado of constant improvement, but at the same time she has a lot of patience for her students and can adapt the classes to suit everyone’s level. I love Kari’s bikram classes, flow and ashtanga, but I have recently discovered another gem - breathing. The Psychedelic Breathing classes she gives are a masterpiece and a recommendation to everyone struggling (or not struggling) in life. In addition to that, she’s a very kind, funny and open-hearted person to be with. I definitely recommend Kari as a yoga teacher!
Some people are very good yogi’s and some good teachers. Kari is both - she has patience and compassion for you when she teaches. But for herself as a yogi, she works so hard to improve herself. That inspires me to give the best of myself every class.
